Stouts; my 2nd favorite...
I visited Stouts a couple of Sundays ago on a lark. I had seen the commercials, and heard mixed reviews, but I'm sold. It reminds me of some of the sports bars in my hometown of Peoria, Illinois. I almost felt guilty watching my server haul my huge nachos platter without the aid of an extra arm. Anyone who can eat one of those without help deserves a medal. Great price, and I look forward to trying some of Stouts' other selections.
Some people don't like the dark atmosphere, but I think it blends well with the classic wood interior and projection screens. It's a very comfortable place to be, especially on a laid-back Sunday afternoon when the CARDINALS are being broadcast(which appears to be a rarity in Lawrence). I still like the Phoggy Dog best, but JB Stouts is closing the gap. Bottom line: I love JB Stouts, and I've only been there once. Very classy...    [29 May 2005 14:24:31]
