Don't Waste Your Time or Money Saturday night, early June, a party of four prepares for a fine dining experience. Too bad the Red Pheasant couldn't oblige! The appetizer and salads arrive simultaneously. The rolls are placed on dirty dishes. The recommended swordfish special has no taste. The maître d’ is condescending! [10 Jun 2003 12:32:19]

It's Wonderful I've always had terrific meals, terrific service and all around very pleasurable evenings at The Red Pheasant Inn. [30 Mar 2006 13:24:24]

Should Stick to Serving Pheasants Food was cold. When I finished my Diet Coke, the waitress took the glass away without a word. Five to ten minutes later I asked if she was going to get me a re-fill she replied, "You might have mentioned that when I took the glass away." Kind of astounded me. Wife was similarly disappointed. Did We Eat at the Same Place? This Restaurant Rules Our dinner was fabulous and the wait staff and maître d' were polite and courteous. Extensive wine list was impressive. To previous reviewer: in fine dining establishments you don't get soda refills! [10 Jun 2006 19:44:04]

Omnis Only I used to really enjoy the Pheasant, went there often and would recommend them - yes the staff can be condescending but I tended to get over it because the food was good.
However I recently became vegan and was invited to a dinner party there - I called a few days in advance to make sure they would be able to accommodate my new dietary needs. They told me they would "put together something special". The something special turned out to be a plate of bland steamed vegetables. No herbs, no oil, nothing. I was so disappointed.
I've heard from other friends that they will no longer go there because when they've made requests for something special (dressing on the side, no butter, a different side) they were treated poorly or worse ignored.
So if you are a happy omni that will eat whatever is put in front of you then go and enjoy! (I used to love the stuffed lobster in the summer or the sole in the winter.) If you are a vegetarian or vegan or have special dietary restrictions though you'd do better to run in the other direction. [10 Dec 2006 14:41:36]
