Good Eats Good bar-type family food at great prices. Have a few drinks, a couple appetizers, and dinner for you and the kids under 50 bucks. [22 Nov 2003 18:12:52]

Assonet Inn For a formal night out? No. I always order out from the Inn on those down nights, especially to relax and watch the Sox. I personally love it as a local, but I can see how outsiders would shy away. [30 Apr 2004 20:00:26]

Home Made Food - Affordable Prices Very friendly rural type atmosphere. Decor isn't much but food is great. All meals are homemade and use natural vegetables, not canned. You can bring the entire family and not have to bring your bank account. [17 Sep 2004 11:11:03]

Please Do Not Allow Your Children to Annoy... House policy dating back to 1973 when I first visited The Inn. "Please do not allow your children to annoy the other diners". More than once I've seen a family with an unruly child be evicted mid-meal after being told that what they'd eaten up to then was free but it was time to go. Usually followed by a round of applause from the other tables.
Definitely not fancy. Substantial portions of well prepared grub served hot when it is ready and not a second before. Be patient; it's worth it. For lunch try the stuffed quahogs with a cup of chowder. Both outstanding. But then, I've never gotten a bad meal there and a 30+ year winning streak ain't bad either. [25 May 2006 01:23:03]

Assonet Inn My husband and I visited the Assonet Inn on a recommendation. You can't enter through the front door; you must go in through the bar on the side of the building. The place looks like it did when it first opened over 40 years ago.
I have to admit we were hesitant at first. We were warmly greeted by the bartender. She asked us if we wanted to eat at the bar or the dining room. We picked the dining room. It is a no frills atmosphere, somewhat nostalgic.
The server greeted us warmly. The food was delicious. Home cooking. We highly recommend this place if you want a great meal at an affordable price. Will definitely go back when we are in the area. [24 Sep 2006 17:27:03]

We've been there before and always enjoyed it. We will never go back after this evening. The server had to have been the most unfriendly person we've ever met. Reminded us of Durgin Park in Boston. After we were done, we noticed a special menu in the next room with all kinds of good items. We asked the waitress why we didn't know about them and her answer was that most people come in the back door and that was that. We eat out 5 nights a week and this was the worst dining experience we have ever had. [22 Aug 2007 21:39:55]
