McT's Lobster House Is Good I had the ribs at McT's Tavern and Lobster House. They were excellent. The meat fell off the bone and it was covered in a nice tangy BBQ sauce. The potato that came with it was also fantastic. I like my potato with lots of butter, and my waitress gave me plenty of it. When I left I wanted to buy a T-Shirt because I liked it so much, but they didn't have my size. Large. :-(. [28 Apr 2001 17:51:12]

Great for Tasty Seafood or Beef When we were in Gloucester I wanted to have a great seafood dinner, but my husband and daughter don't like seafood. The proprietor of our bed-n-breakfast in Rockport suggested McT's and we were very glad he did. I had crabcakes which were very savory and delightful. I was full after the first one, but I just couldn't stop. My daughter ate every bit of her filet mignon and my husband said his prime rib was to die for. Plus we got to look out at the busy harbor and really enjoy the sea coast feel of it. [26 Apr 2002 11:16:06]

Best in Gloucester McT's Lobster House & Tavern is by far the best place in town. I go there every time I'm in town. The variety is unbelievable, you can get anything you want from seafood, beef, chicken, pasta, vegatarian, or you could just make a meal out of their apps., there are at least 30 of them!!! My favorite dish... Sesame Crusted Tuna... Yum!!! [31 May 2002 02:11:35]

Everything We Were Looking for As a 1 night tourist we just stumbled on McT's and it was perfect. Got to eat outside with fine food, especially good service, clean smoke free air - all at prices we could afford. Just loved it. The owners must care a lot and it shows. [22 Jul 2002 18:57:45]

The Best in Gloucester - the Best Anywhere I've never had anything but a perfect meal there. It's definitely the best steak and seafood I've ever had. The view of the harbor is great too. Friendly staff. [02 Mar 2003 08:00:06]

Good Local Catch-all Spot I live locally and go here when I cannot think of what I want to eat as their menu is truly ridiculous in size. The menu centers heavily on sandwiches and apps with the ubiquitous fried and baked seafood plates and lobster. They also have ribs (too overdone for my taste) and burritos (the size of your head!). The seafood can be pricey for Gloucester; there are other places in town where the bill will be the same (or less) and the ambience and food better. At times it is extremely tourist-heavy and the waits to sit and eat reflect it. It does have outdoor dining on the harbor. BE warned, though, since it appears that the staff pools the outdoor tables (to even out tips I imagine) and if their inside tables are slammed you may wait an eternity to eat. We once waited 30 minutes for a drink order. [20 Aug 2003 14:24:14]

Tried it on 10/18/2003 on a Saturday afternoon when it was not too busy (there were many empty tables) and even at that it took a good half hour and two reminders to get the initial beer I ordered. The food was good but not anything special. Good luck. [24 Oct 2003 06:02:08]

Great Staff, Good Food By far the best bar staff (in the Tavern, not too shabby either in the restaurant bar). Mix of locals and tourists, skewed toward locals. Head barkeep, Antoine, is a gem and a half. And that Annie is sure some cunnin'. [20 Feb 2004 17:27:28]
