Poor service
Most reviews that I have seen for the Brass Elephant Restaurant are highly complimentary. Therefore, I looked forward to treating my (senior citizen) mother to a top quality dinner there. Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to experience the cuisine.

We arrived fifteen minutes prior to the time of our reservation and were greeted by the maitre d’, Mr. Jack Ellsby. After waiting a full hour for our table we left the restaurant in disgust. I had intended to write a letter of complaint to the manager or owner of the restaurant about the lack of service provided by the maitre d’, but I have learned that this discourteous man who works as the maitre d’ is also the restaurant’s owner and manager!    [20 Nov 2002 12:03:10]

Great Dinner
My friends and I had a wonderful dinner tonight at the Brass Elephant. Jack was extremely helpful and after a comment I made about the history of the beautiful decor he brought out a photo scrap book. I appreciated his thoughtfulness.

We had a couple bottles of wine (one of them Australian); two of us had the Grilled New York Strip, the other the Grouper special; it was all very good. Plus, I ended with a coffee and Creme Brulee... great! I am glad I had an opportunity to thank the Chef Chris. He seems quite talented.

Matthew our waiter was most attentive to our needs. (And he had good help from the busboy).

I will make it a habit to stop by again whenever I am in Beautiful Baltimore.    [22 Apr 2004 23:37:10]

Horrible service, alright food.
My family was in town, and I made reservations for us at the Brass Elephant since it looks so nice on the outside & I've heard a couple of good reviews. Was I disappointed?!?! The food was alright, but I've had better at this price (expensive!). Our waiter was HORRIBLE; he did not give us anything we asked for & didn't even refill our water glasses. We complained to the manager, who was NOT apologetic and only deducted the automatic gratuity from our bill.
