A Head Above the Competition Our favorite among the growing list of local Indian Restaurants. The service is extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive without being bothersome. The food is usually a cut above the local competition. Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is fine for a strip mall restaurant.
We come back regularly. [23 Mar 2003 14:48:43]

Very good indian food and excellent prices This is my favorite Indian resturaunt in Columbia, and still one of the best I've ever been to anywhere. The buffet cannot be beat - on weekdays it is very consistant but they try different dishes on the weekends. [15 Jun 2003 13:37:42]

Columbia's best indian restaurant This is our favorite indian restaurant among the many choices offered in Columbia. The food is always excellent and reasonably priced, the service is friendly and efficient, and the ambiance is relaxed, but classy without being pretentious. [22 Aug 2003 15:49:02]

Food excellent, service is slipping a little We go to House of India at least once a month, often more frequently. This year they changed owners and the dining room staff changed as well. I've been told that the chef is the same, and the food tastes as good as always, which is very good indeed. The service has had some slips the past few times I've been there. Once an appetizer was delivered with the main course (the point of the appetizer was that we knew the main course would take a while to cook). Once I had to go ask the manager for someone to take our order. Nothing huge, but not on par with the service I was accustomed to and receive from other Indian restaurants [17 Sep 2003 12:38:57]

Good Sunday Buffet Had brunch here last Sunday and it was great - lots of chutneys and yoghurts, great fresh bread, wonderful Kheer. The rice was perfect and the palak paneer and korma excellent also. Coupons available in mailers, that's what brought me here initially, and I'll be back! [25 Sep 2003 11:39:41]

Best Indian I have found We visit or do carry-out often at the House of India. I have tried all the Indian restaurants in Columbia, Catonsville and a few in D.C. It remains the best. The Naan bread and the rice are the best I have found. The chicken Tikka Masala is excellent and my wife loves the VegetableKkorma. My children, who are vegetarian, love the large selection of vegetarian dishes. [18 Jan 2004 13:38:50]

Ordering was convenient & Food was great! I ordered my meal online at carryoutmenu.com and it appeared hot and fresh to my door in under 35 minutes. Food was great and the service was fast! Wish House of India would give an online discount like Kings Kabob does at the site but its still good food at a decent price. [27 Jan 2004 17:08:11]

Always confident of a great meal. The food, ambiance, service and overall feel of this restaurant are all first rate, and then some. The food is under continuous improvement, which is surprising since it is already the best in town. If I were taking a friend out to lunch or dinner, this is the place I would go. My spouse took a course in Indian cooking and my son has become an aficionado of tea as a result of going there. House of India for lunch or dinner, Dobbin Donut and Deli for breakfast -- the town is complete except for a really good Mexican restaurant. [01 Mar 2004 10:51:27]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Chiken tikka masala, palak paneer, the golub jamun when it's hot, not when it's not, and the vegetarian dishes are hot and first rate, too. The Tandoori chicken is great, but lately I've been eating the other dishes since they're so astouneding.

Poor Service... the Manager is RUDE & IMMATURE The food was OK, but the manager was so rude. His immature way of handling the customer spoiled the whole evening. I used to recommend this place to my friends before but after going through what I had I DARE NOT recommend or even consider going there back again. [13 Nov 2007 11:57:27]
