Some Things DON'T Change
My family first began going to Holly's on the way home from Ocean City in 1958, where my Dad attended a Mayor's Convention. There were six of us young kids, and we all had the house specialty, fried chicken, along with my parents. There were nothing but bones left, even on the plate of the two fussy eaters. We even ate the veggies my Mom ordered for us, which were seasonal, and got me started on a lifelong passion for good greens....many years later, my husband and I take our grown daughter and granddaughter, and while we've traveled around the menu now and then, for less than $9, the chicken special simply cannot be rivaled, although almost anything ordered will be enjoyed. The wait staff treats everyone like family -- family you enjoy - and service is efficient, but not rushed. It's been said that Holly's is a treasure, and whoever coined that phrase got it right; the same family, food, and great homey atmosphere since 1955. Not many places can boast that, and not many people can serve many thousands a year and not make it look or feel like it...grace, consistency and charm are part of what makes Holly's a treasure.    [06 Apr 2007 17:23:44]
