I was recently on vacation in Maine and was told to be sure to have a meal at Cappy's. What a friendly place. Never had a whole lobster? No problem, the staff at Cappy's can lead even the most timid novice through the meal.
Though a little cramped, the place was cozy, clean and a wonderful place to eat. And those lobsters!!! I almost felt guilty going back to have lobster for lunch, and again for dinner, and then again for lunch and again for dinner.
And the price is right. A whole Maine lobster for $10.99! Man, that is living!!!! [19 Oct 2002 00:28:01]

Not worth the time... I have heard many 'rave' reviews about this restaurant and how quaint it is. Well, if your idea of quaint is: cramped, uncomfortable or tiny; then this is the place for you. We were seated in the middle of two other tables and I was able to hear those tables better than I could hear my own wife! It was so cramped, every time a server walked behind me I was 'bumped' into without a single apology. Our server was obviously having an off day as she was unresponsive, unemotional and outright rude. As far as the prices, it was Maine standard, nothing to brag about. Portions are small and seafood tasted old. All in all my wife and I were very disappointed in the experience and were apalled with the overall dinner. [28 Oct 2003 11:28:00]

Chill out and Relax! Don't eat here if you are in a rush. It is cramped and noisy but that's half the fun. If you need room wait for the big table in the front window next to the bar, or for that matter take a seat at the bar. The entire staff is friendly and hard working. The food is fresh and yummy. During the off season it's not so frenetic but Cappy's is always crowded. Come to dinner early and don't forget to have their hot fudge sundae. If you are full from your meal, ask the waitress to skip the cherry. [04 Apr 2004 14:35:56]

Rustic and Charming When we asked our host at our B&B where to get a good chowder, he replied, "Cappy's, of course!" Cappy's was a taste of charm, lobster, and chowder wrapped up in an old brick bldg on the dock. I felt it was authentic, and welcome in a world where shopping, restaurants, etc., are homogenous. Lots of local flavor, and I didn't feel it was touristy. YUMMY!!! We're back now and enjoying the canned Chowdah at home---sacrilidge in a town known for the Chesapeake Blue Crab!
