Good Italian cuisine with a NY Little Italy prize fighting atmosphere Try the Calamari, it's the best in the state! [02 Nov 2000 09:54:15]

Can We Say Yummy? I love Graziano's Casa Mia! On our second visit, my husband again had the tortellini dish with peas, prusciutto (sp?) and cream sauce. This is a delectable dish, but I opted for a lower-calorie meal of the Escarole e Fagioli and an antipasto salad without the pork. The soup was a pleasant surprise, very comfort-food but without too much to fatten it up. I love it when I can make a meal out of vegetables and not feel cheated. Everything was delicious, the soft italian bread is the perfect match to sop up the wonderful sauces. We also had the roasted pepper appetizer, which was everything an appetizer should be--light but tasty and full of garlic. It all came together, however, with the dessert. My man had the chocolate cake with ice cream and I had the strawberry cheesecake.....Let me tell you, there are no words to describe! I tried both...the cake was rich, dark and not too sweet (ice cream complimented it perfectly)and oozy-soft. The cheesecake was also light and creamy, perfect with the strawberry sauce.
As far as the service goes, the lady who helped us this time was wonderful, but the time before the server was kind of grouchy and didn't give us water and a couple other things I forgot. This time everythign was perfect, though. This place is comfortable, affordable and authentic...no corny bottles of aged olive oil sitting around or anything lame like that, just nice, warm colors, romantic candles and friendly staff.
