Great Location Explore the menu for just the right meal. The chef does a great job making an ordinary dish a bit different, so be aware that there might be a slight twist. This is a bit out of town, but worth the trek off the beaten path. [05 Mar 2003 17:36:51]

The 2004 Easter Buffet was faultless, a great dinning experience. [11 Apr 2004 15:44:56]

Food is excellent, service and atmosphere is great. Menu is slightly high priced, but food is worth it. [24 Jun 2004 14:06:59]

Fine dining in the north woods I accidently stumbled on the restaurant with an internet search for places to eat in Millinocket. It is a first class place in the north woods. Menu is varied, service is very friendly and efficient and food is very good. [15 Oct 2004 08:21:59]

The food was superb, but the service was exceedingly slow. The hostess was rude and aloof. Not worth the wait. [11 Apr 2005 20:02:54]

Stumbled into this wonderful restaurant.. In July, 2004, we were looking for a place to eat after exploring Baxter State Park. We stumbled into a very memorable dining experience. We look forward to going back this summer. [14 Feb 2006 10:43:06]

Overpriced, but not terrible The River Drivers restaurant is in an odd location for an "up-scale" establishment, along the river but just down the road from a trash dump. But the building was nice, sort of a pseudo-rustic decor, made humorous by the likelihood that no one at that restaurant had ever spent a moment in the woods without a guide.
There were too many tables for the size of the room though, and it was difficult to hear what was being said at our table because of the din coming from all of the other tables.
I had the baked haddock, stuffed with crab meat, and a Caesar salad. The food was good, but not great, and we waited forever between courses. This wouldn't have been bad if we were able to carry on a conversation while we were waiting. But, given the noise from the bar, and the cacophony of voices from the tables around us, it was not a pleasant time.
Perhaps we'd have enjoyed it if we were about twenty years younger, and into the party atmosphere.
For the price, I don't think I'd return. [28 May 2006 15:30:02]

Pampered and Delightful When we are here in the summer on vacation, we always dine at the River Drivers Restaurant. the food and service and the best in Maine. You feel like you could be in a big city with the type of food but it is casual and relaxed, with service so great you feel like you are the only one they care about.
We think the prices are resonable and you could never get this type of food for this price south of Portland. Worth the trip everytime. We have dined here more than times in the past two summers. Always a treat! [29 May 2006 12:48:51]

Food ok; service sucked The food was ok but the service was slow, and the hostess and waitress were beyond rude. They seemed to care more about getting people squeezed into the small space than making our dinner experience enjoyable. I crossed this one off my list of places to eat. The dining rooms were set up badly, with much space wasted and the existing tables far too close to one another. [09 Dec 2006 19:51:20]

Used to be Better I've eaten at the River Drivers a few times before, since its the only place the rafting people will bring us. The food used to be very good but the last time I was there I found that it had degenerated considerably. The building has deteriorated, to a point where it doesn't justify the cost, and the food was no better than could be had at any other restaurant in Millinocket. [04 Jan 2007 14:32:53]
