Great Restaurant!
The Courtyard is as good a restaurant as you'll find in any area, let alone a smaller city like Alpena. The atmosphere is very nice. It's casual and laid back, but you also see many people there on dates and other special occasions. The restuarant has a few different seating areas: a cozy, mish-mash decorated bar area, a more intimate dining area (including little alcoves with more private booths), and a larger room that is elevated above the rest of the restaurant.

The food is great, especially the pasta dishes. They will even let you get a half-order if your appetite is smaller.
The prices for dinners start at roughly $7.
The Courtyard is an especially great option if you're from southern Michigan and are on a trip "up north." I love spending time at my cabin, but sometimes the woods and fields aren't enough and I need to take a ride to Alpena. When I'm there, I like to do some shopping, maybe see a movie at one of two great little theaters...but no matter what else I do, I must visit this restaurant every time!!    [07 Mar 2005 00:25:50]

Recommended Dishes: Any Pasta with their Pesto Sauce; Their Lasagna; Their dinner salads (fresh mushrooms, red onions...yum! Go for the homemade ranch dressing!) Also, the garlic bread is outstanding.

The Courtyard
My wife and I first visited The Courtyard in July on our vacation on long lake. We decided to go on recommendation from my parents. I had the bacon-wrapped filet which was out of this world. Cooked medium rare, (which many places for what ever reason have a hard time with), the Courtyard chef/cooks could not have done a better job.

My wife had a stuffed chicken breast with prosciutto and that was also cooked to perfection and succulent. We started out with the spinach artichoke dip with thin fans of their wonderful garlic bread to dip into it with. I highly recommend it for the ambience and the great food!    [04 Aug 2006 17:42:13]

I love this Place!

Great memories :)

Best resturant in Alpena!!!!!!
This resturant has a unique enviroment and great service and food that is out of this world. Pasta, Pizza's, Prime rib, fresh fish (including fresh tuna). I've never had a bad meal and always leave feeling full and very satisfied!!! Great place to eat.    [24 Aug 2008 18:20:46]
