Often overlooked country bar This somewhat out-of-the-way bar has turned into a fun place for a break from the cookie-cutter-food franchised restaurants. Entertainment every other week. Food special and a Saturday-night Prime Rib deal that is truly a real value. Home cooking at its best and plenty of bar-food, including their 'signature' Nighthhawk burger and infamous deep fried chicken gizzards ( no pickled eggs, though!)
The owners actually thank folks for coming in !
Not at all fancy, 1/2 bar and pool table- 1/2 eating area. They seem to be the ONLY place on St. Patrick's Day that understands what corned beef and cabbage is all about and put to shame the "Irish" pubs of downtown Grand Rapids. A mountain of fresh corned beef cleaved from large briskets, cabbage, potatoes, and carrots as big around as 2x2's for $8.95. They didn't have the Grand Rapids Pipe and Drum Corp there, so they played Irish music CD's instead. It made the downtown places' servings look like lunch or diet portions.
Fun place - good food - pleasant folks. [30 Mar 2007 17:55:00]
