Horrible service After months of going to the 5-8 club after our softball games and spending at least $300 a week, my team was fed up with bad service, a rude waitress (who happened to be the manager), unfair and unhealthy food practices. Our waitress told us we ordered things we didn't, was not friendly, and later told us when she didn't need our business because she had plenty of softball teams. In my mind after years of working in the restaurant industry, this is not how you treat customers and as a result they have lost 15 people a week and a large bill in a rarely full restaurant on Monday nights. Although the food is good and prices are right, I would not recommend it. [17 Aug 2004 10:28:38]

Great Local Tavern In response to this "horrible service" message I just read for the Mpls location, maybe you should try the St. Paul location! The service and food are excellent. The specials are great, and there is always a full house, no matter what night of the week. Located on the corner of McKnight and Minnehaha just north of 94 on McKnight. We've had great food, service, fun, and atmosphere at this 5-8, and best of all on a just-married/ just-bought-a-house budget! [17 Feb 2005 12:21:21]

Excellent Tavern Since the smoking ban, I've gone to the 5-8 about four or five times. Before the ban, I went twice and vowed to never return because my clothes smelled like ashtrays. With the ban, I thought we'd try it again.
Anyway, I think the food is great for the style of restaurant that it is: burgers, fries, beer. My kids love the crane machine. They always get candy from it. Most crane machines are there to take your quarters. This gives the kids something to do while waiting for their food and a few minutes for my wife and I to talk.
The service has always been excellent -- fast and friendly. [05 Dec 2005 09:25:26]

was in bad mood, wanted horrible service Requested the manager waitress, and when she came to our table she asked what we would like, and I replied bad service. She did not know what I was talking about, until I explained what I had read on the internet. Turns out, a regular waitress had told this unruly group she was the manager to calm them down. This was 3 years ago and she had not seen the write-up on the internet. We always did take out since you had to cut your way through the air, they were always so busy. Since they went smoke-free (including the patio) we try to find a table and stay there to eat. The meals come pretty fast and the waitresses are always there to make sure you are satisfied. Even if you want bad service you won't get it. [28 Nov 2007 18:12:39]
