Jake and Rip's is located on Sunset Drive (Highway 8), just off I-55, next to the Racetrac gas station. They serve steaks, catfish and barbeque in a casual, laid-back setting.

Laid back place for steaks and catfish
Jake and Rip's looks like it's been around a while. The building appears small on the outside, squeezed between two big gas stations, but is actually fairly decent sized. Inside are cozy booths, tall tables and good sized bar.

On every visit my party has been seated promptly. Servers are always pretty friendly, albeit occasionally slow.

The food is decent and is served in good quantities. Nothing particular stands out on the menu, but then nothing is particularly bad, either.

Although this is a region known for its catfish, it is nothing special at Jake and Rip's. The fried seafood platter is otherwise good. And big!

The prices are a little on the high side for this size community, but not unacceptable.    [27 May 2007 11:15:46]
