(This restaurant was formerly known as Dixieland. Despite the name change, the food and menu are still the same.)
Spanky's Bar-B-Q is located in a small commercial building next door to the Pacesetter Conoco on South Commerce (US 51). They serve barbeque plates, sandwiches and fried pies. They also offer dinners-to-go for larger groups and lunches for bunches for smaller gatherings.
Dixieland has a travelling trailer that stops in Batesville on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Pontotoc on Thursdays and Grenada (at Wall's department store) on Fridays. They also have a location in Oxford, next to the Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Tasty Barbeque sandwiches!
Over several visits, I've had the opportunity to try both the sandwiches and the ribs. My personal favorite is a sandwich, topped with slaw and mild sauce.
The mild sauce is tangy and slightly vinegary, with just enough sweetness to really compliment the tender pulled pork. The hot sauce has a bite! In fact it had enough of a peppery bite to overwhelm the meat's flavor. I'm not saying it's bad, but it is strong.
Of the sides, I've only tried the potato salad. It's mustard colored but I don't think it's a true mustard potato salad. It's quite flavorful, like southern-style with a little tangy kick. The coleslaw is great on the sandwiches but should suffice as a standalone side.
The ribs are good, with nice charred ends and plenty of meat on the bone. They're not the tenderest I've ever eaten, but they are satisfying.
You can stop in or drive-through at this location.
