A Pig Sty in Many Ways
The service is beyond rude and bad. The help coughs into their t-shirts and wipes their noses on their fingers then on their jeans. And this is before you get a seat. Avoid this place unless you are about to die from hunger. Then stay away. Certainly Great Food
Woodlands has wonderful food that will surely satisfy your hunger. Their barbecue is delicious and well prepared. The staff is very kind. I would have to say that the corn is a little on the dry side but this restaurant is a great place to visit!    [18 Feb 2007 20:45:33]

Not Fast Food
I really love the food at Woodlands but they are always busy, especially during ski season and summer months. Do not expect to get quality food if you are ordering carry-out during busy spurts! It shouldn't be this way but they are not a carry-out kinda place. Plus, it is a super small place and many families end up waiting in the bar where there are drunks and smokers. Mountain BBQ
I never have considered this place to have the best BBQ in NC, but there sure are a LOT of folks who disagree with me. Tourists line up for hours to get a seat during the height of the season and they tell their friends about it when they get home! Woodlands caters BBQ's and pig pickins all over the country. I know of one occasion where they catered a function in Seattle Washington and they are always catering in the NC and SC area.

Food is good - not great, but certainly good enough that you won't be complaining. Atmosphere is 'family style' and rustic! Service is very casual...usually friendly, but informal and when it's busy - a little slow.

Have a drink in the bar while you're waiting for a table. Relax and enjoy the ambiance (hopefully there won't be children in the bar - a frequent complaint).
