Too noisy
The coffee was good but the piped in frenzied jazz was too loud, too intrusive. I politely asked the manager to please turn the volume down as I was trying to converse with friends, but he refused.    [27 Oct 2005 10:48:26]

Perfect coffeehouse experience
These people know coffee!! From roasting to pulling the perfect shot of espresso. The food was eclectic and good with pretzels and a fruit cup. I sat outside on the deck and watched kayakers float by on the river.    [18 Jan 2006 15:22:15]

LOVE IT
Panacea is one of the very best coffee shops in Western NC. The atmosphere is fantastic - think warehouse - the food/drinks are amazing - i love the Joe Schmoe sandwich (raspberry chipotle hmmmm). Best Coffee Shop in Waynesville
I love this place. The ambiance is great, with the high ceilings, brick wall, and different levels. They roast the beans right in the store, so it smells heavenly. The sandwiches are unique and very tasty. No complaints about this place.    [02 Jun 2006 17:30:36]

Feels like a combo of my living room and an artist's studio flat
Coffee is excellent (especially the dark roast). The deck sitting area is pleasant, especially on spring or fall mornings (you'd never know that such a beautiful riverside setting was in the back of an old hulled out warehouse in frog level!) Use of wrought iron furniture, modern artwork, and decorations give it a kind of artsy coffee house feel.    [03 Aug 2006 13:08:00]

Great food & atmosphere but needs more tables!
I have eaten at Panacea since it opened. My daughter (now away at college) had a surprise 18th birthday party there when returning at Christmas from her senior year at the NC School of Science & Math in Durham. She has always said it compares with any place she has been - and she has been many, many places. (Right now she is in Turkey.)
The food is great, the atmosphere fun, and the crowd is always eclectic. It's so good, though, that getting a table on the weekend can be difficult unless you are very patient.    [30 Oct 2006 13:47:38]

Truly Outstanding Coffee Shop
This is a coffee geeks kind of coffee shop.

The shop is spacious and layed out very well. They roast their own coffee ,and best of all they not only know coffee but they know espresso as well,[most coffee shops do not].
Really impressive food also,and the back deck is very nice [river view].
Heck the bathrooms are even super clean.
