Best of the Beach
I am a chef in Raleigh N.C. and a trip to the coast would just not be complete without a visit to the Oceanic.

It's a great place for seafood, but do yourself a favor and stop by for Sunday brunch. An excellent menu with a great view - and oh yes, believe it or not, a waitstaff with a friendly smile that not afraid to talk to you, and if you have any questions they actually know the answer.

Sometimes I find myself at the beach just for brunch. Just so you don't think I'm acting on the Oceanic's behalf I do have one complaint. The desserts are not made in-house - they're not bad, just not homemade. Maybe the chef will consider this.    [11 Oct 2001 18:12:54]

The Oceanic Restaurant (or Big O as it is called by the locals) is the most soothing restaurant I have been in. The waitstaff are always pleasant and helpful. No matter how busy they are they seem to take time to talk to you. The food is always good tasting, appetizing, appropriate temperature of the food. The prices are consistent with the overall service. Even the manager takes time to vist you. On top of all that the view of the ocean is excellent.    [08 Jan 2002 20:26:25]

the crab dip appetizer is awesome. blackened tuna served with confetti orzo is a delight to the palet. the staff is full of smiles and knowledge of their menu. the view is totslly perfect with dining available on their own pier.    [17 Oct 2002 20:32:36]

What a treat
How can you beat a restaurant that overlooks the beach? A restaurant that overlooks the beach and has great food. The Oceanic has the best seafood in North Carolina! The wait staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The food is outstanding.    [21 Dec 2002 20:41:47]

Wonderful

Heart of the House
I work in the kitchen of the Oceanic and see the food that we serve every day...and I take my wife and daughter there to eat on 'dates' every chance that I get.

Blackened Mahi is awesome! Everyone gets the crab dip...go out on a limb and order the cajun shrimp wrapped in bacon...it is fabulous! Come check out our views...and see your troubles float away with the waves!    [25 Sep 2003 10:27:32]

Overrated
Our group was not at all happy with the food at the Oceanic. The seafood did not seem all that fresh, and most dishes were, at best, flavorless. I have had better dinners at Red Lobster.    [02 Oct 2003 16:01:39]
