Gone sour
Cheap, cheap beer (relative to the rest of Princeton) keep the bar hopping at night, but the rest of the place is not holding up so well.

Tunnelling underground, you come up into a rather cavernous dining-hall atmosphere with indifferent food. It's a couple bucks for a crispy grilled cheese sandwich on wonder bread.

Waitstaff is efficient, bartenders are taciturn and will get you a drink right after you feel them sizing up your tip potential. That might be unfair: some can be quite nice (they sent us over a pitcher once after a quarrel over ID.)

Perhaps the regulars feel more at home (and there are more than a few regulars) and maybe the Annex is doing something right. But some nice old graffiti on the walls, and a few college trophies can't really dispell the slightly dingy atmosphere.

Kitchen closes at 11 or so.

Bear in mind I prefer a cheerful atmosphere and good food when I go out -- and I'm willing to pay a two or three dollar premium. Your tastes may differ.    [10 Sep 2003 22:22:13]

It's nice on Gay Night
It may be Princeton's only Gay Bar on Monday Nights, which is a real plus!

I usually arrive late, around 10, so I don't expect much, but the waiters and waitresses are friendly and remember me!

I'm eating light by that time, and I usually get the cheeseburger with fries for five bucks. Not bad, and it's usually delicious!!

It's rather dark inside, but not depressing... it's nice, and drinks are quite reasonable. It's a good time.    [18 Oct 2003 21:30:58]
