Best Breakfast Place in Carlsbad

Over-rated Over-crowded
When the Stagecoach (great place) shut down, the good ol' boys all migrated to this place. Too bad it's nowhere near as good. The food is big, but bland.    [12 Feb 2004 21:24:09]

If you want to jumpstart your day, forget the jolt from coffee, order the huevos rancheros at the Pecos River Cafe. Service was friendly, my request for corn tortillas in place of the menu's flour tortillas was no problem. Being from NJ I had no real sense of chiles. The server took the time to explain about red & green and the fact that the green could be ordered mild, medium, and hot. The first day I order green, hot. WOW!!!! I was wired for the rest of the day.... It was soooo good that two days later, before we left town, we did a return trip. The order was green, medium. I was going to be driving our RV several hundred miles that day and thought I'd tone it down a notch. It was the perfect start to what turned out to be a perfect day. If ever we pass that way again you can be sure we'll stop for breakfast, even if it requires a slight detour!!!    [20 Nov 2006 21:59:31]
