I recently went to the Four Winds in NM and was served by a very lovely waitress. She was pleasant and our food came quickly. However, one of the waitresses at the table next to us used the word 'Beaner' to describe the ethnicity of the special of the day. If you are not aware, 'Beaner' is a negative slang word considered by many as a racial slur for Mexicans. My husband is a Mexican and I was so mad I couldn't even bring myself to speak to management. Old-style Home Cooking
My son and I visited this establishment a few months ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food portions were large, the food was well-cooked and prepared, and the service was good. I was a bit surprised when I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy to get one tiny sausage link I had to cut up and put in the gravy, instead of sausage gravy. Besides a few ma & pa food "stands", this is the only real sit-down-and-be-served restaurant in town. Considering the lack of competition, I was happy with the place.
