FANTASTIC!!! Breakfast, lunch, or dinner...the Hi Ho Cafe is outstanding. The staff is friendly, the food is tasty, and the prices are reasonable for the quantity of food received. When driving from Mississippi to Colorado, the Hi Ho Cafe is an excellent place to stop-off for some good food! [16 Jun 2002 13:43:50]

Tex Mex at it's Finest. Real Tamales are hard to find. But the "Hot Tamale" dinner(platter) at the Hi-Ho satisfied my every wish. Probably the best hot tamales I've ever had and I look for them. You won't be dissapointed. I was driving from Evergreen, CO to Lubbock, TX and passed the place 3 times before I had the guts to park in the parking lot; it has a very cheesy appearance but don't let the looks fool you-- here lies some of the best Tex-Mex cooking in the Southwest. Que Saboroso ! [17 Aug 2004 21:34:11]

You're kidding, right? Well, I guess I hit the Hi-Ho on a really bad day because the food I was served wasn't fit for swine. The "salad bar" had brown liquid lettuce, I'm not kidding - it was actually rotting before my very eyes. It looked like the salad bar had been set up the preceding Thursday (it was Saturday, when I went, by the way), and not touched since. My husband ordered something that was perfectly awful (can't remember now), and I had an roast beef sandwich that had cold potatoes and gravy. The kicker was, however, that when I got down to the bottom of the roast beef, there was an incredibly nasty black HAIR stuck to my plate. Can you say barf-a-licious? Aside from the gut-wrenching food, there was some little rugrat running amok all over the place unrestrained. I was tired from a very long drive and wanted to sit down and enjoy my meal. Oh, by the way, it was obvious that the floor underneath the booth where we were sitting had not been cleaned for a VERY LONG TIME, as there was a huge variety of food stuffs underfoot being ground into the filthy carpet.
I would slit my wrists if I ever had to eat there again. Really. [18 Sep 2004 06:21:14]

Great Little Cafe I have eaten at the Hi Ho many times over the past ten or so years. During the late 90's I was often doing biological research and wildlife photography in the area and always enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the Hi Ho. At times I was working with a diverse group of middle school and high school science students from Kansas, and they loved the cafe too! The staff was always friendly and the food always good. I look forward to future visits.

Hi-Ho now closed For those of us that grew up on Rick's Green Chile Burgers, it's a sad passing. [10 Dec 2006 13:24:29]
