Don't miss this hole in the wall Embudo Station smokes its own specialty meats, which you can order by mail if you can't visit there often enough. The menu is classic and diverse. The french fries were simply the best I have ever eaten: very fresh, amazingly thin, crispy outside, moist inside. Mm...
The canyon and river views from the restaurant are very nice too. [30 Mar 2006 17:40:07]

A favorite stop on the way to Taos Great food, beautiful setting, & wonderful smoked meats & beer. Always a pleasure! [09 Dec 2006 15:03:36]

While the service was somewhat lacking, the excellent burger and sweet fries (trust me, they are really good} and the BBQ sandwich were worth the drive. Sadly, you have to deal with the waitpeople. [10 May 2007 20:58:42]

Will never return Despite the rather magical location, the owners of this establishment were able to effectively assure that we will NEVER return. We were ignored by the sour faced, older, blonde female (owner) as we stood there waiting to place our food order, despite being a mere foot from her face. She chose to rifle through the day's receipts strewn all over the counter rather than greet her customers and take our orders. The same sour faced, rude treatment was given to us as we tried to pay for our food before departing.....well, not quite the same, we got to stand in front of her for a MUCH longer period of time before she graced us with her attention, peered over the top of her glasses and wanted to know "what we needed". In the interim, we got to witness her arguing with the poor chef, snarling to a caller on the phone and hanging up the phone without even a "good-bye". We never experienced a smile, a "thank-you", "you're welcome", or a "good-bye", "have a nice day"...nothing. Her arrogance and nastiness is probably the reason the place looked like a dive (with cigarette butts littering the ground underneath many of the plastic tables and chairs) and was almost empty...it's falling into disrepair because she's driven all of the customers away! We'll be sure to warn all of our friends and family not to waste their $$ on this spot when there are so many truly fabulous restaurants with lovely people in both Taos and Santa Fe.
