So-So Dining Experience..Food is Uneven!
The interior of Applebee's on Lohman is like all the others. It is attractive, bright, clean, with a mix of tables and booths. The service this night was performed by a young man who tried hard and did a good job. The food we had this night was a little disappointing. Perhaps it was just the fact that two in our party ordered the chicken fried chicken which was breaded and fried and came with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy as well as mixed veggies. It was OK but not great...perhaps this is the best that can be done with chicken fried steak??? The potatoes were a little on the stiff side and not very well seasoned. The veggies were a little undercooked...particularly the carrots which were quite hard. No bread came with the meals. The Fiesta Chicken, on the other hand, was very good...juicy, flavorful, and tender. We also ordered an appetizer sampler. The buffalo wings had a genuine buffalo sauce and were "boneless" pieces of chicken. Tasted good, but came a little cold! The quesadilla and mozzarella sticks were pretty good. The artichoke and spinach dip pretty good also, but not the best. All-in-all, a fair dining experience, but the food seemed to be a little sub-par when compared to other Applebee's around the country where I've eaten. (Except for the Fiesta Chicken.) Next time I will try a different dish...hopefully with more success.    [07 Aug 2007 12:39:09]
