Nearly Belgian Fries These folks use double frying, they have about the same sauce selection as in Belgium or the Netherlands but the fries here cost just over twice as much as in Europe (I understand that NYC rent is high, that still doesn't mean I like to dish in $5 for some fries) and the potatos are not as good for frying - they soak up more oil than the European variety (or maybe a different kind of oil is used). On top of all that, they overfry the fries. [20 Dec 1999 19:32:13]

Perfect Fries I recently visited NY where I stayed at the Novotel, next door to B Frites. I became obsessed with these wonderful potatoes.
I'm a french-fry expert, having studied every technique from McDonald's to the very tricky pommes souffle, and I can say without hesitation, these were perfect. Crispy and golden on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Just the right thickness. Served very hot.
I ate these either for lunch or after theater every day! (I was nearly attacked once by ravenous elevator riders driven insane by the aroma as I rode up to my room. [20 Nov 2000 13:12:06]

Still Drool Thinking About Them. We spent 2 nights in Times Square in June. We tried the fries the first night, and had to go back the next night. They were incredibly good - crispy but not too greasy, nicely salty and flavorful. We live several hundred miles away, and I keep thinking about how good they were! I'm originally from Holland, so they were also reminiscent of fries there (with sweet mayo of course :) [08 Aug 2003 16:49:41]

Fabulous Fries! I lived in Belgium as a child and frites are a favorite memory. On my 1st visit to New York with my parents and sister, we stayed at the Novotel and stumbled upon B.Frites. We ate them every day for the 5 day visit and did the same for our next visit 3 years later. We are coming back this coming December and it is the first place we will eat again!!!
