OK, but...
Il Vagabondo is one of those restaurants that is big with tourists who live in areas with sub-par Italian fare. NY'ers know better places, but it's large, fun atmosphere makes up for the lack distinctive flavors. Great for kids and others who make a mess or need diversion, such as the bocce court in the back.    [30 Sep 2003 12:27:42]

Fun time for pasta and bocce ball
I went to Il Vagabondo recently and had a great time. The food was very good, and the half size pasta portions are more than enough for dinner, unless you are famished. The minestrone soup was very hearty and tastes just like Mom used to make. Playing bocce after dinner was great, you kind of forget you're in the city for a while.    [16 Aug 2004 13:46:28]

As a true tourist in the city, I went to several good restaurants which offered different fare. All were good including the Vagabondo. However, at the Vagabondo the gentleman that ran the establishment was a gracious host, and even though I sent a bottle of wine back because I thought it was a bit off, he treated my family and me with a respect that one doesn't get every day, no matter where one goes. As a Southern boy I can truthfully say that this New Yorker has manners and class. His Momma would be proud. Thanks again for your hospitality.    [02 May 2006 23:28:32]

II Vagabondo
I met my husband in NYC and he first introduced me to the Vagabondo, 30 yrs ago. We always eat there every chance we get when we come to the city. The food is fantastic, the gnocchi is very good. The people are warm and genuine. I always recommend it to clients and friends whenever they are visiting the city.    [03 Jan 2007 23:41:34]
