Vastedi Sandwiches
As a kid growing up on the lower east side of NYC, La Focacceria was one of the places we used to go and eat, We had it all - great pizza and Chinese and just all kinds of foods. So to go to Vinnie's place was just different. What I remember most was the Vastedi sandwiches. Man, were they great. It was an aquired taste but just the same it was one of the best eats in town. I now live in Cleveland but when in the city, the first place I go is Vinnies place La Focacceria on First Ave.    [23 Nov 2003 10:05:08]

La Focacceria Is Back
Like many East Villagers, I was heartbroken when La Focacceria closed last year. But they have just reopened up the street at 221 First Avenue, between 13th and 14th Streets! With Vinnie's blessing, the former employees are keeping up La Focacceria's 91 year tradition.

The food is exactly as it was before. The portions remain generous and the prices are low to moderate.

La Focacceria is a friendly, neighborhood place with great food, low prices, and a casual atmosphere.    [01 Apr 2006 08:51:51]
