Texas comes to New York City of course NYC is an incredible city because of variety of quality choices in many areas. Pearson's truly is an amazing taste of barbecue. All of us were saddened when the original place closed but its back in Queens. The brisket is excellent as are the ribs and both styles of Kielbasa links. The onion rings are perfect companions and the staff and 2 barmaids are too. Go! [03 Nov 2003 01:08:47]

True smoked BBQ in New York City This is a little place in the back of a bar with a real wood smoker. The brisket and ribs are excellent. If you enjoy true barbeque flavor this is the place to enjoy without fancy or fake attitude or sauces/rubs etc. Even the kielbasa is good to dip so get a few pieces too. But GET the brisket! Still the best! Although more competitors have opened lately (and Blue Smoke is certainly worth a visit in Manhatttan), Pearson's has maintained its high standard and still can't be beat. The chicken is succulent and smoky, the sausage is addictive, and the brisket is a model of what real barbecued brisket should be. The sauces are homemade in the thin Texas style (not tomatoey) and offer a range of heat. I love the chopped brisket sandwich too. And now that tobaccco smoke has been banished from NYC bars, you can enjoy the wood smoke in the food in a clean atmosphere. Don't forget to bring cash, they don't take plastic.
