One of Cleveland's Best Pizzas I'd rate Angelo's on E 71st in Cleveland's Top 5 pizza places, perhaps #2 behind Mama Santa's. I'd call it a thin crust pizza, but not cracker thin like some New York type pizzas. The dough isn't cracker-y either, firm but chewy enough. The sauce has a little sweetness to it, but just right if you like a little sweeter sauce. I don't believe this Angelo's is affiliated with any of the other Angelo's in the Cleveland area, and this may have been the first in the area to use that name. Not a fancy place, but a family run business that's been in the Slavic Village neighborhood for many years. The pizzas are a couple bucks less expensive than many other pizza places. Be sure to call first, as their hours may be a bit odd, like I don't think they're open real late at night, or open every day. This is on E 71 between Fleet and Harvard, almost across from the Drug Mart. This is one of the probably overlooked mom and pop gems in Cleveland. I know a woman who moved out of state, and when she comes back to town to visit, she'll buy about 10 large pizzas, and freeze them when she gets home. [17 Mar 2007 21:14:53]
