Great atmosphere what happened to the food?
We were there on a Sunday night, 9ish. There were a few people there, maybe 8 tables. Our apetizer (which was chips and condement cups of salsa, chili and spinach-dip) took what felt like 20 minutes to get (the food came out 2 mintues after the chips and dip)

I must be spoiled with Mexican food from the south (although Adobe Gila's has roots in Florida), but the food was not that great. In fact, it had little to no flavor. It looked good, it was a decent portion, it had a great price but the taste was bland and not mexican-like at all. Perhaps if you've never had Mexican food you might think it was okay. But sadly, even Taco Bell is tastier. We had tacos and burritos, rice and beans. We also had chili. The chili was probably the best thing we had at Adobe Gilas and it wasn't great. I can't give it a "poor rating" because I would think that is too harsh, but I definately think the next rating up "decent" is way to generous. It was not poor, but it was not good for mexican food (think D+).

The server was okay, but she had all the tables. She would have been fine (didn't refil our drinks promptly) if she had help.

As for the venue, awesome location, great live music, great ambiance and great prices. Which was a total letdown if you were there for the food.

Bottom line: Stay for the drinks, atmosphere and maybe some apetizers.    [05 Dec 2005 15:55:43]
