Specializes in West African cuisine where cornmeal bread is provided with each meal. Also referred to as the Africana Restaurant. Reviews review it add a link Afrique Quisine aka Africana Restaurant - This Week - Your Community Newspaper, by Gary Seman Jr., 28 August 2003; Gifty Safia Ahmed was poised to open her Africana Restaurant a year ago in Northland. But there was a not-so-slight change of plans: a baby and funding and contracting issues. But better late than never, said the 28-year-old, who recently opened the restaurant (originally to be called African Restaurant) at 1890 Tamarack Circle South. It is believed to be the first restaurant in Columbus specializing in West African cuisine. It's a place where you can get jollof rice, okra soup, amala, banku and kenkey. There also are a few breakfast dishes, such as koko, a type of porridge. All dishes are priced less than $10. Ahmed said dishes are generally prepared spicy. Food is eaten by hand -- literally -- or with the use of tou, a cornmeal bread. For the uninitiated, there are utensils available. The 1,400-square-foot restaurant seats 24. - suggest change
