Description

This River Road restaurant in the small village of North Bend has a significant history. Started in the 1940's by the Rohrer family it became known as a place to gather popular as a restaurant with a bar. What started as a bar, has become more of a family-owned restaurant. The current owner is Rebaca Redding. Specialty of the house is seafood and they make their own tartar sauce. The menu does include many other country-style choices. Expect a crowd on the weekend and it can be noisy at times. Across the road and railroad tracks is the Ohio River.

Food is horrible
I was there with my girl and it was the worst restaurant I have ever ate it, and the service was horrible.    [19 Feb 2007 16:34:37]

Just great!
Great food with many choices, fun atmosphere especially on the weekend, excellent service although can be slower on weekends when the place is packed. Popular restaurant with a loyal following.    [19 Feb 2007 21:31:00]

My wife and I went to see what improvements had been made by the new owners. We were disappointed and will NEVER go back!

Orders:
Wife - Cod dinner with hot slaw and fries
Me - Dinner special, Fried Shrimp, popcorn shrimp, two pieces of fried grouper, hush puppies, slaw, corn on the cob and a roll.

The results:

95 degrees outside and 80 - 85 degrees inside. 30 minutes to get meal after placing order.

Wife's dinner: Cod fried to death! The hot slaw was tasteless and what taste there was was sour. The crust on fish almost needed a hammer to crush through it. The tarter sauce was tasteless. French fries were good.

My Dinner: The special wasn't special! Fried shrimp was way over cooked, One piece of grouper was good the other was cooked on the outside and almost raw on the inside, Popcorn shrimp was good, small cup of regular cole slaw was "Nasty", Hush Puppies raw inside. The 5" long piece of corn on the cob tasted strange and wasn't hot enough to melt the butter that I had to make a special request to get to put on it. The dinner roll was "OK".

Price for two dinners with diet sodas $25.00. Waitress nice but clueless.

Do yourself a favor. Pass on this place!!!
