This place has dynamite Mexican food.

The food here has always been consistently good. Margaritas are excellent.
Try the Carnitas tacos---shredded pork is always tender and juicy and the sauce that comes on the side is just great. Not your usual salsa or red sauce. Not sure exactly what it's made of but it tastes fantastic and has just a little kick to it!

No axe to grind & not a former employee
I don't eat at Mazatlan anymore, I have several friends who have had the same experience and none of them have returned to Mazatlan either. It is a shame, because Rene is a great guy and a wonderful manager. I literally used to eat there once a week. But his wife is the worst waitress I have ever had at any restaurant in my life. I have never experienced someone who could make such simple things so difficult. I used to tolerate her negative attitude because of how great the food is, but I can get the same quality food elsewhere, with better ambiance and MUCH better service.

If you get a good waiter or waitress, Mazatlan is great. But if you don't, you can plan on having your meal ruined - by a bad attitude and mistakes with your order.

I used to eat here at least once a week. The food is FANTASTIC! However, one of the waitresses is the reason I will not go there again. No matter what you order, she is rude and unpleasant. If you so much as DARE to ask for something special (perhaps wanting to substitute a cheese enchilada for a beef enchilada), she makes a big deal out of it. ANYTHING you ask for from her will garner an EXTRA charge on your bill. On the menu, Combination #1 says you have your choice of 2 enchiladas, a taco and choice of either beans and rice. When I ordered and asked for CHEESE enchiladas, and a CHICKEN taco, you would have thought I had committed a crime. She told me I couldn't have those. They had to be beef. When I pointed out that the menu did not specify what type, she said she would have to charge me extra. It is a real shame that she has almost single-handedly ruined what used to be my favorite restaurant.    [16 Aug 2007 03:20:34]
