Top: United States: OH: Worthington Description
Modern American cuisine served in an 1800's inn. Reviews review it add a link TOP 10 Restaurants for 2005 - The Columbus Dispatch, By Jon Christensen, 28 April 2005; Chef Thomas Smith appears to have total control of the kitchen of this beautifully restored inn. Smith's passion for quality ingredients has led him to find increasingly more Ohio-based suppliers of mostly organic meats and produce; he's currently installing a garden to raise all of his restaurant's herbs. Don't be surprised if the heirloom tomatoes on the salad taste the way tomatoes used to, or that the fresh mozzarella on top actually has flavor. His pursuit of seafood takes him as far away as Hawaii (marlinlike hebi) and as close as central Ohio (the new menu's garden plate, with its saute of wild ramps and morels). His penchant for detail means that sorbets, ice creams, breads and even pickles are made here. Smith and Wade Graham -- the front-of-the-house manager and himself a trained chef -- are responsible for the dramatic upgrade of the wine list. An unusual combination of Federal period decor and food that can be both traditional (real chicken-noodle soup) and modern (seared-rare tenderloin sliced thin to make a carpaccio deliciously seasoned with arugula, shaved Parmesan and truffled olive oil) makes this a standout destination. Serving three meals a day Monday through Saturday, and breakfast and brunch on Sunday; all nonsmoking; on-street and off-street parking. - suggest change The surroundings at Seven Stars are swank, but the cost isn't.By Kae Denino - CitySearch - suggest change
