It's MO's... Whaddya Expect? Go ahead.. try the clam chowder. To my taste, nothing special. What IS special is the grilled oysters and fresh halibut fish and chips. Simply outstanding! The local Yaquina Bay oysters are simply the best available anywhere on the west coast! [31 May 2006 17:35:14]

Never Understood the Popularity The chowder is nothing special. The service is usually so-so. The wait is often long. It's a low-end pier-side diner. [29 Aug 2006 20:17:15]

No Treat Here ~ Don't Waste Your Money We have tried MO's twice, once for the clam chowder and were disappointed so we tried it again for the halibut fish and chips and will never go back! The halibut was nothing better than you get at a fast food restaurant only a whole lot more expensive, greasy, small portions and flavorless. The restaurant was dirty, cold and the wait was long. As far as the clam chowder you would do better with a bowl of Campbell's! [26 Nov 2006 19:26:51]

Love Mo's! Best ever! Living in landlocked Missouri, I never really tasted fresh clam chowder until I traveled to Portland and then onto Newport.
If there is a better clam chowder than Mo's, I can't imagine it.
Served in a warm bread bowl, a hint of ham and butter gleaming in little gold pools on top.
To me it was beyond "good," it was chowder heaven.
I returned there three years in a row, and never, did it disappoint.
In fact, I just ordered some online today.
I've eaten many chowders, in many places, and found none better than Mo's. Try it, it's very special. [23 Oct 2007 18:41:11]
