Amigo Mio - Authentic Mexican Cuisine Amigo Mio in Allentown is a wonderful secret. We drove all the way from Harrisburg, an hour and a half trip, to enjoy the excellent authentic food in a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. The four of us tried virtually every combinations of Mexican entrees available: burritos, enchiladas, floutas, etc. Everything was excellent, including the service. The prices are extremely reasonable, and this is a rare find. [02 May 2003 11:01:31]

Amigo Mio, a Hidden Gem Never judge a book by its cover. The surrounding neighborhoods are fairly rundown making Amigo Mio a truly hidden gem.
Overall This really puts the old saying “you get what you pay for” to shame. Considering the average price of a dish ($4), this is truly an amazing price for the quality of food and service. Highly Recommended.
Environment/Service A very intimate/cozy dining area in the main floor of a house converted to a restaurant. Nice décor. Great for going out on dates with significant others or small groups of people (they have a bar). Service was good.
Appetizer Warm baked cheese on top of crispy nachos, accented by a couple of sliced jalapenos was a nice appetizer to start with. (Nachos w/cheese, $4 , serves one)
Entre/Side Item Beans, beef, special sauce and spices made for a very good tasting burrito, especially considering the broiled cheese added on top. (Burrito $3.50 + Broiled Cheese $1.00, serves one)
Dessert A warm caramel sauce topped flan was what the doctor ordered, simply put; this was the best tasting flan that I can remember. I plan to return to try the other flavors of flan such as the chocolate and coffee flavors, but a must will have to be the raspberry sauce topped flan on top of a moist chocolate cake. (Vanilla Flan with Caramel Sauce $4, why share?) [08 Aug 2005 10:56:20]

Mexican Thoroughly disappointing dining experience. Very limited menu and extremely small ala carte portions. The tortillas had the consistency of a brick and you received about 10 for $3.75. The not so authentic salsa came in salad dispensers to pour on food. The flan was actually very good, although the sauce had a bitter taste. I'd recommend saving $30, or $40 on dinner for two to Taco Bell or frozen 99 cent burritos or Banquet Mexican entrees. You may still not have the ambiance of real Mexican, but you'll still have $30 to eat elsewhere, when you're done. [28 Jul 2006 10:16:06]

Gringo
No Soup For you I live about a block away from Amigo Mio's and wanted their nachos. I called to see if I could place an order for pick up. The answer was "No, we do not do that." I asked if I walked up and placed an order for take out, the answer was "No, we do not do that." I said so I need to physically sit down and eat it there? "Yes." Now with a two year old and a husband that does not like their food how do you think this works? This is like the "No Soup For You" episode of Seinfeld. [10 Jan 2008 18:13:53]
