We just discovered this relatively new place in Pittsburgh that serves, can you believe it, Nicaraguan food!This little family run taqueria seems a bit out of place in downtown Carnegie, but the food and service were very good. Nicaraguan is similar to Mexican food, but is has a few unique differences, like sides of plantain or yuca (a root vegetable) along with rice and beans.Although they specialize in meat and seafood items, they also have three vegetarian items on the menu. Don't know if they could be made vegan or not.This place is closing down temporarily on Dec. 2, 2007 so the family can go back to Nicaragua, and will be having a grand re-opening celebration on January 19th, 2008 with a new menu. They are worth checking out, and for the adventuresome, they also offer salsa dancing lessons on Friday and Saturday night!Rivas Restaurant319 W.
