Ole Casual and friendly, El Taco Loco is our nephew's favourite restaurant in New Hope - and probably ours too for a quick lunch. The chips are homemade, and they offer several different kinds of salsa, from red to green, from mild to spicy hot. They come out with a new t-shirt design every year - all very creative and artistic. Don't miss this place for a fast, tasty, and very reasonable meal. [11 Feb 2004 20:28:46]

El Taco Loco - Skip This One Walking through New Hope back in June I realized how hungry I was and thought Mexican food would be nice. I happened to be walking on a side street and there was Taco Loco. I thought it looked like a small eatery that would serve authentic Mexican food because it looked very plain from the outside.
Wow, Was I ever wrong. Once I figured out that there are no waiters and ordering is done at the front desk I selected a multi-layer dip and a fajita.
Wow, they both sucked. I have made far better Mexican food from canned beans and other pre packaged ingredients bought at my local supermarket.
California Style? It should be called bland gringo stuffing.
The portion for the dip was large but that wasn't a positive thing. It meant there was a lot of bland tasteless suburban mexicanesque "food."
I was truly disappointed and my stomach let me know. I love Mexican food and always look for places that Mexicans eat at. If you go to the international section of a supermarket you can pick up ingredients that are far superior to what Taco Loco uses and it will be less expensive and taste better. You won't be making a gourmet dinner but it probably won't upset your stomach
--- Two little notes that are hilarious about Taco Loco (well, three actually):
1) It received an award - Best of new Hope or Best of Bucks County - I can't recall. Either way, the people who go to Taco Loco are mostly Yuppies and Baby Boomers with no taste buds and probably never left their hotels if they ventured to Mexico.
2) I overheard more than several couples exclaim how good the food is. The fact that not one Mexican was either cooking or eating there shows how completely out of touch these sheltered suburban yuppies are.
3) Since its self-serve, you have trays and lots of trash to throw out (plastic forks, plates, etc.) which is another unpleasant feature of Taco Loco. The most hilarious thing is that some of the yuppies brought their messy trays to the ordering desk and dropped their trash there.
I saw a few more people do that and I couldn't stop laughing. Other people saw this and did the same and the mound of trash grew quite large before any employee noticed. I think thats a pretty good symbol for the Taco Loco experience. [25 Oct 2007 17:41:46]
