Great R.I. seafood I bring people here often. It's a very comfortable place with great wait staff, friendly customers, and all the local dishes done and served up nicely. We especially like the different choices offered of chowder and fish and chips. The mussels are superb every time I have them, and the more unusual dinner dishes are wonderful. For great R.I. seafood, served with a complete lack of smoke and mirrors, this is the place to go! We love it. [21 Oct 2004 09:03:33]

The Mighty Have Fallen!!! I used to *LOVE* this place. For years, we have been regular customers, but our last several meals have been disasters. They are constantly out of menu items, even specials early in the evening. What does come out is poorly done - even the fried clams and stuffed quahogs. The service has declined badly as well - the waitstaff has none of its former character or competence. This is a big shame - all of our friends agree. [11 Apr 2007 12:57:22]

I agree with my husband (for a change!) I agree completely with Alex's comments. The J.O.B. has become an embarrassment to our proud seafood-loving state. On our last visit, my out-of-town guest asked what was good and the waitress recommended the chicken tenders. (In an oyster bar!!!) When asked what else was good, she mentioned the spring rolls. I could just cry. Even my broiled swordfish was obviously frozen and then miserably overcooked. [11 Apr 2007 13:02:39]

THEY CALL THEMSELVES AN OYSTER BAR? We went there thinking we could get great oysters. They were "out" of something we asked for, can't remember what it was. Oysters Rockerfeller, maybe. Got some raw oysters. Half a dozen. One was very bad. Told the server. They didn't seen to care. Saw some fried food. Looked terrible. We decided to go elsewhere for the rest of our meal. A great disappointment. [21 Jun 2007 22:12:51]

horrendous attitude The entire staff at this place is arrogant in their attitude - all the way through and including management. The food is lousy and pricey. I don't know what happened, we used to eat there a lot -- [15 Jul 2008 08:44:54]

Jamestown Oyster Bar awful My husband and I had been regulars, going there for years. One night we waited for almost 2 hours for our meal and my chicken was served completely raw inside. The waitress took it back and a 1/2 hour later brought back something different. When the bill arrived, I was astounded to see that they charged us for the chicken dish. The waitress apologized profusely and explained that the owner would not let her take the dish off the bill. I walked over to the owner to talk to him and explain what happened. He even pointed his finger right in my face and told me that this was my problem. [28 Jul 2008 07:51:15]

Don't waste your money Visiting New England we were anxious try a seafood place in Jamestown where we were staying. I should have read the reviews of the restaurant before trying it out. We first sat down the young waitress hardly acknowldged us and never introduced herself. I can't even identify her by name. All she asked us was what we wanted to drink and presentd us the menus. When the food came we noticed there was no silverware settings and had to retrieve sets from the next table. We ordered New England clam chowder that was like warm and mediocre taste - a disappointment visiting New England. It was comparable to a can of Progresso soup. The oyster bouilabaise was delicious and tasty - highly recommend it. We were never served any bread and had to wait 15 minutes while the oblivious waitress with the surly attitude conversed with a friend at the bar. Waitress never removed the salad and soup dishes while we received our main course. When it came to receiving the check that's exactly what we got - the waitress never asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee - merely handed us the check and disappeared. What a terrible experience. - Read the other reviews and believe them it was not a good experience [22 Sep 2008 09:05:13]
