Best Barbecue in the South Tender succulent smoked ribs and delicious, smoked, nearly-fat-free pork with a choice of two extraordinary sauces. Mouth watering. The best. [20 Sep 2002 08:03:28]

This Is It The ribs are good, and they also put barbecue sauce on chicken, but the pulled pork is perfect. Of the 2 sauces, one is mild and tomato or molasses based while the other is a spicier, "hot" mustard based sauce. Either is excellent.
The sides, though, are what put Henry's over the top. Plates come with a decent slaw and very good baked beans. The slaw is also offered on the sandwiches. Substitutions cost extra. The fries are beautiful. Cooked to a dark, golden brown with skin left on they are perfect with barbecue and probably would be with burgers or dogs or all by themselves, too. I'd try them by themselves if I didn't have the opportunity to get a plate of that barbecue with them each time I'm there.
They also offer a very good barbecue hash and rice. I always thought hash and rice were necessary items at any decent barbecue establishment. Seems fewer and fewer of them offer them nowadays, however.
I've not been to the one in Simpsonville, only the one on Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville. It's small, but cozy. On a nice day it's better to sit outside anyway. When the crowd is friendly, it's especially fun inside as well. [20 Oct 2002 20:35:12]

It Affects My Vacation Henry's Smokehouse is so good that I planned my road trip route to Florida just so I could stop in and have dinner. The ribs are the best thing on the menu but everything excellent. I echo a previous reviewers thoughts on the side dishes. Everything is top notch and they are proud of it.
They will also FedEx you bottles of their sauce. [01 Dec 2002 00:52:00]

Good BBQ for the Upstate This is good stuff for the Piedmont area of SC, which is not known for good BBQ. It would only be average compared to the best of the Midlands and Pee Dee "Que". Nice smokey flavor but too stringy in texture. [31 Mar 2003 02:13:31]

Wicked Good I am a college student from New Hampshire, and I love Henry's! If I weren't trying to stay in shape I would eat there all the time. The food is great--sauces especially--and the service is fast and friendly. I recommend Henry's to all of my friends and go there regularly. [27 Apr 2003 20:07:55]

Good Eats... I grew up in Simpsonville, but the Corps saw fit to send me to San Diego. Whenever I am home, the first thing we do is pile in, and head to Henry's. Pulled pork plate is tip-top, and nothing washes it down like the sweet iced tea. I called back today and got Dad a gift certificate for Father's Day. Service is solid. Yes, it's small, but I have never had a problem finding a place to sit. Bottomline, why go to a chain and get the some pre-fab crud, when you can get the real deal over at Henry's?
As for the comments from "Good BBQ For The Upstate", y'all must be smoking more than pig down in the Midlands! Stay Anonymous. [12 Jun 2003 15:22:23]

Miss it bad! Real bad! I grew up in Charleston and Greenville. I have had other BBQ from at least 5 different states and 15 cities. Big Ed's in Marietta, GA was my favorite until Henry's opened in Greenville. I moved from the upstate more than 10 years ago and I still believe that Henry's is the best BBQ I have ever had. Time for an Orlando location! [09 Nov 2004 13:51:50]

The Mustard Sauce Rules I attended school in Greenville and Henry's was my favorite place to eat. I rarely ate in, but I would pick up BBQ all the time and eat it on campus. It's not as good as my great uncle Butch's...but it's the closest thing you can buy. Fabulous food. [15 Jul 2005 19:04:57]

Sweet Heaven I love the BBQ. I love the pork. I love the hash and the sauces. But I really die and go to heaven when I eat Henry's Smokehouse Sweet Potato Pie. Delectable! Delicious! Irresistible! Mouth watering! Belt bursting! LOL! but really, next time you visit this fabulous, simple BBQ smokehouse, get a side of sweet potato pie, and I promise you it won't be your last! THE ONLY PLACE TO GO FOR BBQ We've moved back to Florida from Taylors and Henry's is the place we miss the most! Generous servings, always busy, but WORTH THE WAIT - (which isn't as long as the line would make you think!) You can smell the wood burning before you even get out of the car and they have THE BEST FRIES too! DON'T PASS THIS ONE UP! [28 Dec 2005 11:34:23]
