Don't bother eating here This place had been highly recommended but I have no idea why. Our steak dinners began with small, sad, less-than-ordinary salads. The accompanying packaged crackers were the highlight of the entire meal. Our steaks were ordered medium, which was supposed to be pink and juicy. They turned out medium well to well, very dry and tasteless. We ordered French fries and were expecting French fries, not the flavorless steak fries which actually came with the dinner. A basket of unflavorful, nondescript corn bread finished off the meal. The total bill for 6 people was almost $100, and we didn't have any alcohol. Our waiter was very indifferent. What a disappointing experience! [23 Jan 2004 15:38:09]

It Was a Yummy Experience! I actually had a really good meal here. We ordered salads (small as another viewer mentioned),ribs and the Texas toothpicks (slivers of jalapenos and onions deep fried and served with ranch) and enjoyed every bit of it! Service was slow (as we had already heard), but overall it was a good meal. If you plan on eating an overall good Texas meal, and you don't mind having a 15 minute interval after each course, you'll enjoy the Prairie House! [18 May 2004 15:53:45]

Genuine Country Cookin Popular with the locals, this is a down-home spot for tasty food. The ribs were especially delicious -- fell right off the bone, fork tender. Large portion, so a full slab could be shared by 2 people. Service was fine, with a short wait to be seated after Sunday church. [23 Apr 2006 20:43:28]

Ribs are a must! The ribs are some of the best and most consistent of any place we have tried. We have lived in Oak Point for 10 years now and have returned again and again. The Prarie House is a real western experience with friendly staff. There is something for everyone on the menu..and lots to look at..Where else are you greeted by a stuffed bear in the lobby? If you love falling off the bone ribs..they got em'. Prairie House Rocks This is some of the best food in the area-one of the best overall dining experiences I have had in a long time. "Don't Bother Eating Here" by Lucy's Mom must own a cafe nearby that is hemorrhaging due to the loss of business going to Prairie House. [28 Jan 2007 15:32:38]
