To Die For While visiting from Phoenix, Arizona, a friend and I, on our way to Fredericksburg for a day of shopping stopped off at the Bear Moon Bakery for coffee and a Danish. Walking into the bakery was a struggle against the crowd standing in line for incredibly beautiful pastries, breads and a table where to enjoy breakfast. I selected a Bear Claw and a couple of other Danishes; good bear claws are hard to find, but this bear claw was manna.
The coffee on the other hand, was simply hot, non-eventful and a bit strong from having sat. We found that most of the coffee carafes were empty, table clearing was slow and the sitting area itself was really small.
I would have to say that the Danish, breads and other pastries would be reason enough to return. [01 Apr 2003 15:29:42]

Nice Cozy Atmosphere I have been going to the Bear Moon ever since it opened, and before that when it used to be the German Bakery. I grew up in Dallas and now live in Austin, though many summers were spent in Boerne.
Some of the lovely things about the cafe, in addition to the nice staff and old architecture, are the great baked items and fresh food.
It isn't a huge place, but that is what makes it so cute. It doesn't cater to the humongous crowd. It's a place to sit, chat, and enjoy the small town environment in. Undoubtedly my opinion is heavily sentimental and biased. Don't go there! [23 Aug 2003 17:02:01]

Love It I just moved here from St. Louis and was looking for a great cafe to sit outside and people watch - this one fits the bill!

Amazing Cake Ordered a full sheet chocolate cake with buttercream frosting for our family reunion and it was amazing. If you love moist, extremely rich cake, then this is the place. Highly recommend. [06 Jul 2006 21:35:44]

We Love the Bear Moon My dog Freddy Jr. and I love the Bear Moon. The food and service are excellent. We just enjoy sitting at the outside tables and watch the rest of the world go by. It is a wonderful little place in a wonderful little town. [01 Aug 2006 14:54:08]

Chicago Loves the Bear Moon I have friends that moved into Boerne a few years back and one of my joys, when visiting from Chicago, is to break away and enjoy a nice morning at the BM. They are wonderful and I can't wait till my next visit. [14 Oct 2006 15:45:56]

love it I have tried everything they make! I was a fan when it was the Boerne Bakery 10 years ago. Now my favorites are the bear claws, apricot flips and cheese pockets. A must for guests from out-of-town. [24 Nov 2006 18:23:15]

Lemon Tea Cake from Heaven We go about once a month to Boerne and I always make a special trip before leaving to either get a full lemon tea cake or a slice to go. I'm craving it now, actually. They make wonderful cinnamon rolls and baklava. I would highly recommend this to anyone. You know it is a favorite among the locals because there is almost always a long line when they first open! Excellent A++++ [25 Apr 2007 15:56:53]
