Description

Restored 1890s digs and rich, upscale trim get you in steak-eating mood. Veal and seafood play supporting role to huge, excellent steaks; seafood soup and sauteed mushrooms also impressed. Desserts are not for the faint of heart. --GuideLive.com

Just a bad night?
While many people will enjoy this expensive restaurant that caters to expensive people, I did not. The aroma of cigars was bad enough to spoil my appetite and the brash waitress finished it off. I had heard so many "great" things about Del Frisco's that it was a wonderful surprise when my husband announced that he was taking me there to celebrate my birthday.

Our reservations were for 8pm. We were seated about 8:20 in the smoking section (we are non-smokers and were not asked a preference when the reservation was made). Our waitress was pushy and abrupt; and allowed my husband's tea glass to run dry and then took over 15 minutes to return with the picher (we did see her wait on others and return with their food long before we saw her back at our table). My steak was ok; my husbands was not, but we felt it best to shut up, eat and leave.

I am sad to report that I doubt I will ever eat here again or give my recommendation to eat here.    [12 Jul 2000 14:14:48]

Awsome
I enjoyed my first experience here, and will be returning as often as my schedule will allow. It was our waiter's first day, but he provided excellent service nonetheless, and the bartender was great. It is disheartening to hear ChefDJ's experience was so poor, but I am definately on the other end of the spectrum on this one....    [06 Feb 2002 15:10:05]

Cheap Steak, High Dollar
Steak was so-so. A bit on the tough and dry side--flavorless. The baked potato was overdone. Prefer to order steaks at Mesquite Pit in Weatherford where they are always cooked to my liking and the flavor is to die for.

Also, the staff was snotty; especially the bartender.    [14 May 2003 12:15:33]

Better late than never
My 2nd experience was more than 5 years ago on my 29th birthday, just 2 weeks before delivering my daughter. My husband refused to allow me to indulge in seafood for the entire pregnancy so I got him back by ordering it for my dinner.

We began with the shrimp appetizer platter - love the remoulade dressing! Continued with the house salad & avocado ranch. Loved the huge strips of bacon!! I had the lobster & hubby had the filet tips w/ angel hair pasta. We also ordered sides of sauteed mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. We finished off the meal with dessert - i'm melting just thinking about it. The cheesecake was my choice. Wonderful! It just melts. My husband had the Jack Daniels bread pudding.

The bill for my lobster alone was more than than the rest of the meal combined, but it was so incredibly worth it. My baby was born 2 weeks later with the biggest smile! Can't wait to have a date night there again. The food was great, the service was impeccable (helps to be a beached whale about to blow!), and I love the ambiance & decor. Subsequent visits have neglected to disappoint.    [09 Nov 2006 16:11:45]
