Description

Friesenhaus serves authentic German food, although some non-German foods are available. They also offer a selection of imported beers and wines, authentic German pastries and breads, and home made ice cream. The restaurant is located the building that housed Krause's Restaurant for many years, but it has been completely renovated and now has a real German atmosphere. Live German music is performed on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays by professional musicians who also perform at Wurstfest. Prices are reasonable, with most dinners priced less than $10. There is a so-called Stammtisch each morning where various topics are discussed while participants enjoy breakfast and coffee.

Krause's was once considered by many to be a good German restaurant, but had seriously declined in food quality and service. It closed a couple of years ago and was bought, renovated, and reopened under the name "Friesenhaus" by the Gunther Dirks family, who recently moved to New Braunfels from Germany. The food is authentic and very good, the restaurant is very attractive, the bar offers many imported beers, and there is live music on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.    [15 Mar 2007 00:44:53]

Friesenhaus
Very clean, great ambience, very tasty food. We were there one of the nights the musicians played and it sounded great. We hated to leave! Will for sure go back...in fact, we are going to try breakfast tomorrow.    [18 Jun 2007 22:04:46]
