Outrageous (and deceptive) prices
Heading from Lake Charles, LA to Houston, we saw a series of billboards advertising a buffet at Cajun Cookery. We stopped in, and as we entered the restaurant we glanced at a signboard in the entry that said "$7.99". Naturally, we assumed that was the price of the buffet. After we ate, I went to the bathroom while my husband paid. After we got to the car, he informed me that they charged us $14.99 EACH. Apparently the $7.99 was for the LUNCH buffet and in little bitty letters (that we never saw)they had the "dinner price." We had "sticker shock" for hours, as we would NOT have eaten there if we had known beforehand.

What a ripoff! It's even iffy that the dinner was worth $7.99. The buffet selection was not very extensive and most of the food was far too salty.    [10 Dec 2002 00:31:04]

Never Again...
I will never go here again. Well, unless they pay me to teach them how to cook Cajun food. They 100% stunk. First of all we waited for a long time and no one came to our table so that we could order drinks and get the price for the buffet which is not on the menu. Seems like it is meant to be that way so you will get tired of waiting. You get tired so you get up and go ahead and get the buffet and sit down and still have to go find someone to get your drink order. None of the food had a flavor. It was all luke warm. It was a Monday evening and there wasn't too many people there for that type of service. Well, we didn't eat much because of the just blah flavor, one plate each and we didn't even finish those plates of food. We get the bill and it cost 17.99 each for one plate of oh my god nasty food. Even the bar b que ribs had absolutely no flavor. We wll never go back.    [10 Apr 2007 01:35:40]

Awesome Food!
Oh My Gosh, best buffet ever! We ate the night buffet and could not believe what was offered. The fried shrimp and catfish were so tasty. The thing we liked the best was that the food was not greasy. They had BBQ crabs that were out of this world. They were so full of meat. We could not believe the array of food that was offered for only $17.99. The gumbo was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to all of my friends.    [26 Apr 2007 22:05:54]

I really Enjoyed the Food
I was impressed with the service. I went with my Wife, child and relatives. I have to admit the Pricing is very Deceptive. The waitress was very prompt with our drinks and removal of used plates. I had numerous items from the buffet and I noticed the Staff consistantly bringing out hot food. They were very attentive to the cleanliness of the hot bar. All of the seafood seasoning was very good not bland or overspiced. I did not find anything unfresh. I did not have to pay because a relative picked up the tab maybe thats one of the reasons I did not complain about the price!    [04 Oct 2007 23:03:43]

AWESOME BBQ CRABS
VERY good food. The BBQ Crabs are the best. The gumbo is very good and on Thursday nights (i think) they have Quail which is awesome. The service is very good and very friendly people. We drive from Louisiana all the time to go eat. I would recommend Cajun Cookery to anyone. I feel it is worth the price.    [01 Mar 2008 11:14:13]

Awesome!
Ever since they got that new owner, the food has been great! The snow crabs on Wednesday are delicious! Our waitress was very friendly as well. The price was worth it!    [18 Jul 2008 19:31:35]
