Don't miss this little treasure in Rockport If you're in Rockport, you have to try Captain Billy's Wife's Place for lunch. They serve up incredibly fresh, delicious gulf seafood, including shrimp and oyster po' boys that you will need a fork to eat because they're so huge. And you can't beat the prices anywhere. After lunch, load up your ice chest with the freshest shrimp around, also at great prices. [11 Mar 2004 15:27:59]

Unbelievable Po'boys! This tiny place started out because Captain Billy's wife Perry was well known to the local fishermen as the best cook around. She started cooking for the fisherfolk and now cooks for anybody.
Her specialty is the po'boy - so loaded with batter fried shrimp or fish or oysters, it's recommended that you not unwrap the sandwich when it comes, but just peel the paper down from one end exposing a little at a time. [09 Apr 2005 15:10:43]

Great Place! Went with sweetie last year and dropped in. We soon became an "institution" according to Capt. Billy. The food was great too, we proved it by eating there at least 6 times in the 4 days we were in the area. Are planning to go back in August and part of the reason is Capt Billy and Perry. Only Oldtime Place I Could Find. I had a really nice time eating here. It reminded me of how the food and ambiance was in the area 30+ years ago. The gumbo is the only gumbo that I've found in along time that tastes anything like it should.
The shrimp were big and tasty. Best was getting to visit with Perry and her grand-daughter. I look forward to getting to visit again. [12 Aug 2005 21:08:35]

Go For The Food. Stay for Captain Billy's tales. Sweetie and I go to the area at least once a year for a week and make it a point to eat there at least 3 times during our visit. Captain Billy has always regailed us with the history and what is going on in the Rockport area. He has opened a new place with LIVE music (his band) a bit down the road, called Capt. Billy's Lighthouse-same great food. We like everything, but I especially like the oysters...fresh, juicy and plump! [26 Aug 2005 11:19:18]
