I've never been here but my husband Michael Sheffield has. He loves all of the food. Everytime we eat cheese sticks he comments on the cheese sticks. [14 Feb 2002 03:06:23]

We traveled 6 hours for a steak! Years ago, in 1980, I was assigned to the spook school at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX. One night four of us ate at this restaurant. It left an indelible mark on my taste buds and mind! So years later (8/23/02 to be specific) I convinced my wife of 3 years to take a road trip from Euless, TX to San Angelo (about 5 1/2 hours or so) just so that I could relive the dining experience I had 22 years ago! My wife assured me that she too thought that the steak was as great as I had remembered it to be. I remembered a few things about that night in 1980 - sitting at a round table drinking beers with my fellow spooks and then seeing a platter with steak piled so high you couldn't see the server's face (ha). Our dining experience in 2002 was like going back in time - don't be fooled by the outside of the restaurant - the ambiance and decor has a warm feeling. But it's the food that really makes this place a must visit if you are in west Texas! We would like to thank Betty Zentner's husband - Bernay (spelling?) for greeting us and making us feel at home - he still doesn't believe we traveled 6 hours for a steak! [26 Aug 2002 17:08:45]

I don't eat them anywhere else! Onion Rings:
I live in Southern California now and make it back to Angelo as often as I can, but the one thing I always go for is the onion rings at Zentner's Daughter Steak. I have lived in Conn, New Hampshire, Maine, Alabama, and Texas before this and traveled throughout the South and no where will you eat onion rings as delicious as those at this local steakhouse. Next in line is their chicken fried steak. Don't miss their hamburgers, either, thick, juicy and actually cooked the way you want them.

Never a Disappointment! I lived in San Angelo as a boy, and am now qualified to affectionately call this great little city "Angelo". When I visit Angelo now, I make sure I eat at least one meal at Zentner's Daughter Steak House. In the thirty years of either eating at Zentner's in Loake, TX or Angelo, I've never been dissapointed in the steak or the cold beer. Great food, great service. I may just have to move back to Angelo to be closer to Zentner's! It's that good. [06 Jun 2005 23:35:44]

Best thing about San Angelo My husband and I lived in San Angelo four of the longest months of our lives back in 1978, courtesy of the U.S. Army. We were told of this steak house called Zentner's Daughter and gave it a try. We ordered steak for two and were served a platter full of beautiful steak, enough for a family of six. Ordered a platter of onion rings not knowing the volume we'd receive. The steak was the best we'd ever had and the onion rings were out of this world. Just happened that I was telling this story today, remembered that steak and popped in to see if it was still around. I live in California, have no plans to return to San Angelo or Texas for that matter, but I never miss a chance to tell folks who are planning a visit to try and stop by Zentner's Daughter. Was the life preserver during those four long-assed months. [15 Jun 2006 16:43:43]

Wonder if they'd send me the recipe?!!! Like Kathie S and Craig Briggs, I was also in San Angelo stationed at Goodfellow AFS many long years ago (1980/81). My mouth STILL waters at the mere thought of Zentners Daughter Steakhouse! I am NOT a beef-eater, but their steaks could possibly convert a vegetarian to the joys of meat! I'd LOVE to know how they prepare the steak to make it so tender and tasty. I still tell my friends about the HUGE portions of steak, fries, and onion rings, and the fun we had there.
