Incredible The best restaurant on the face of this earth. It’s a mix of regions and styles. It’s been a while since I've eaten there, but there a mix of Indian, southwestern, Cajun. Also, at the time, it was one of the only restaurants in town that had something for vegetarians and vegans. The desserts are all homemade daily, and there's a lot of experimentation in the food. The best bread pudding anywhere. Also, they get fresh baked bread from Empire bakery in Dallas, and the Greek salads are amazing. The Greek dressing is one of a kind, and I have tried to remake it myself, although I've always miserably failed. [07 Dec 2003 18:39:06]

Best Kept Secret in Sherman Excellent atmosphere, great food, a little expensive but you would pay more if this restaurant was in Dallas. [12 Nov 2004 12:19:28]

Amazing food in a casual setting Want great food without the pretension. This is place. A varied menu ranges from steaks, fish, lamb, pasta, vegetarian, to Indian entrees, which are all excellent. Very interesting appetizers and great desserts. Sometimes there is live jazz or blues, and always great music playing. This place survives with repeat business of locals, who became tired of driving to Dallas to pay more for less quality. [04 Jun 2005 15:10:54]

Outstanding and little known Excellent food, fine atmosphere, and generally good service. More people should know about this gem, but since I live nearby and eat there often, I'm glad more people don't. [03 Sep 2005 18:01:55]

Fine food in a surprising place A great restaurant in an unassuming setting. Fresh seafood, fine steaks, unique pastas, and a variety of creative dishes, including specials that include Indian, Cajun, and vegetarion options. The service is professional and friendly, and the menu provides a full range of appetizers, desserts, and creative surprises. This place is maintained by a devoted clientelle who have found it easier to get fine food down the street than to drive to Dallas to pay more for poorer quality. [09 Jan 2006 22:40:13]

Truth from an ex-employee Now, I know what many are thinking when they read something like "Truth from an ex-employee"- it has to be bad, right? Well, yes, I am an ex-employee of the very same Blue Door Cafe in Sherman, Texas. And, as such, the fellowship between the employees was just as good as the food that people order on a regular basis. In short, the owner, Venu Menon, believes that what is considered as being a great atmosphere for the customers is great also for the employees who help make the business what it has been and still is. As for the atmosphere, I suggest the dinner as the lighting is dimmed, candles are lit, and music offers that relaxing feeling that dining should be. As for the food, people who have contributed to this site have it right. Excellent cuisine for an excellent price. And, we are not talking about simply hamburgers. No, there is far more to dine on. And, all of it is A+ to put it all lightly. [10 Dec 2006 19:21:40]

The Best Restaurant Between Dallas and St. Louis This is simply the best restaurant on the drive between Dallas and St. Louis. It is well worth planning your trip between those to cities in order to pass through Sherman to eat there. The restaurant is only a short detour off Highway 75 in downtown Sherman -- follow the large Chase Bank sign seen from the highway as the restaurant is just across the street. They open at 5 pm Monday through Saturday. [26 Dec 2006 19:28:57]

So good I cooked there for a few months in college, and I still go there any time I'm back in Sherman. Local artists have displays up on the walls, and most of it is for sale. The menu is really dynamic and exciting, the exotic twists on classic ideas are refreshing. Definitely hit up the Indian food night at least once. The whole family contributes to the food and the atmosphere, so if you happen to be one of the lucky few souls to be there on a night that Shanta pulls out the torch and makes creme brulee, you may decide you never want to leave Sherman. Best Kept Secret Never have we been there that it hasn't be fabulous. They have amazing seafood dishes and on Wednesday nights their Indian theme dishes are beyond comparison. The only negative is ditch the piano guy that shows up periodically. The jazz music is much better and much better background for intimate or business dinners. [27 Aug 2008 20:04:44]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Ahi Tuna w/ Wasabi, Pepper Encrusted Rib Eye, Indian dishes, and especially the Bread Pudding-can't be beat!
