Watch Out The advertised and posted "specials" come with "rules" that limit availability. Not the place to go for service. [14 Nov 2002 21:50:35]

OK, when you can wait Generally good food. The soup was excellent; the rest was roughly equal to... well, Applebee's. The service is frustratingly slow. The ambiance - nice - a bit run down, giving a sense of authenticity to the English Country Restaurant the place aims to be. [30 Aug 2004 20:22:37]

Terrible Food Squire Rockwell Restaurant in Annandale, Virginia I have been there twice and both times I was very dissatisfied with their food.
First visit I ordered well done prime rib it was pink all through the meat and when I got home to cook it better I found over 1/4 lb. of fat.
Second visit I ordered baby back ribs, no only were they not tender they were crunchy, I sent them back, the waiter then informed me that they were 1/2 cooked two days ago and when they were reheated they were crunchy. No substitute was offered and they took $5.00 off my meal. I would be charged $10.00 for the salad bar which I had a small plate of salad and one piece of bread.
No manager came to the table. No manager has called me back. Spoke with one manager Rena and she was to call me back after speaking with the night manager, that was 2 days ago. [28 Oct 2005 12:16:17]

Nicely Done This was my first time at Squire Rockwell's. I was in the area for business...was simply driving by and was hungry, and decided to give the place a try. I'm glad I did.
I enjoyed a bowl of French Onion soup, which was tasty and not too salty (which some restaurants tend to do).
I then tried their salad bar, and had a little bit of potato salad, artichoke/mushroom salad, and a little caesar salad too...all three were very good. The salad bar was also very clean, which is something I really appreciate.
My main course was a cheeseburger. It was a half-pound angus burger...I asked for well-done, and it was closer to medium-well...but that was good enough for me. The fries that came with it were tasty.
I had a draft beer to go with everything and my total (with tax) was slightly under $20. For soup, salad bar, burger/fries and a beer...under 20 was a pretty good deal.
Unlike the previous reviews, I found the service to be very good. I was seated promptly, and my server came with a minute or two. There were two servers handling about seven tables in our room...and both helped each other out and checked on each other's tables...good teamwork.
All in all, a very good experience. Yes, like a previous reviewer noted, the decor might need some touch ups here and there, but that was a non-issue for me...I look for good food and good service, and Squire Rockwell's provided this.
I will definitely return, and for those that read this review...if you are tired of the chain restaurants that dot the landscape today, the give SR a chance. [31 Jul 2007 22:22:19]

Enjoyable, pleasant, good food Wednesday night. Jay waited on my family. It was my daughter's birthday, my son and wife joined me for the dinner. Rainbow Trout, Filet Minon, Peppercorn Strip Steak, Alaskan Salmon ... bottle of Merlot ... Key Lime pie. Not a complaint. Oh, and we enjoyed the salad bar, too, hearty veggie soup or multi-choice salads. Good food, quality service, fine hospitality. Fully enjoyable evening meal. [22 Aug 2007 21:02:46]
