Nothing better in the DC Area Without a doubt - the best Italian restaurant in the DC metro area. [13 Aug 2003 22:09:52]

The food was wonderfully prepared. Everything arrived hot, and with an extremely reasonable time--given the fact that this was a party of 50 people! Ambiance was wonderful also. My hats off to the entire staff of The Alpine Restaurant. [31 Dec 2003 18:06:32]

The best for 4 decades I have been dining at the Alpine for nearly 40 years. It is the best Italian restaurant in the DC area and compares favorably with restaurants where I have dined around the world. Ermano is a superior chef/owner. Maitre D',Erwin; Mahmoud, John, Guptra and other waiters Couldn't be more helpful and are good friends. My associates and I have lunch there one or two days a week. [08 Oct 2005 15:56:23]

Delicious Italian Food - better than mama Best Italian food I've had in a long, long time. Tasted better than homemade and much more expensive than a trendy downtown restaurant. The Staff is extremely nice and helpful. [14 Mar 2006 14:20:13]

so-so Will not go back, food was served lukewarm. Service was the slowest I've had in a long time. Tables are too close together & noisy. [12 Dec 2006 15:15:12]

Multi Bene I have dined there for thirty years. My associates and I lunch there once a week. It is the best italiano ristorante in the DC area and better than most I have eaten in in Italy and other cities internationally. Owner Ermano is a great chef and friend as are Erwin the Maitre D' and the great waiters, John, Mahmoud, Guptra and Tony, [21 Apr 2007 15:08:02]

Excellent food After reading these reviews I felt this restaurant had to be overrated; boy was I wrong. My wife and I visited the Alpine for an early Diner on a Saturday afternoon. The Maitre and Waiter were very friendly and helpful; answering several questions from my wife. As for the food it tasted wonderful and the portions were perfect. While the tables are close together; it is no different than what I have seen in many European restaurants both in the United States and in Europe. As for price, it is on a par with most other Italian restaurants you will visit in the area. If you visit the Alpine I am sure you will be pleased. [02 Jun 2007 17:09:06]

Great location great food Great food for 30+ years from personal experience. This is where I took my date to impress her and to discover if we were a "match". Great for groups and one can find quite a few Redskins new and retired and their famous coach eating most nights. I have used them for wakes and birthday parties all where happy and the food was good and hot. [20 Aug 2007 18:33:24]

So bad we didn't even stay to eat.. Worst restaurant experience in a long time. We arrived for an early mid-week dinner and was seated promptly by a very nice Maitre D'. We were seated in the corner of a large dining room which was very cold and had loud gospel/rock music playing which did not fit the atmoshpere. Also, there was this odd beeping sound coming from a box on the wall. We were seated but we were not given menus. After several minutes of waiting, a waiter who was walking in the back of the dining room looked over and I asked for menus. After another couple minutes, he came by with menus and said he would return. He never did. We reviewed the menu which was mostly in Italian with no interpretation. Also, the restaurant suffers from mushroom overkill - everything seems to have mushrooms in it. After waiting for ten minutes for our waiter or for anyone else to return and check on us, we got up and left. The service was terrible, the menu was almost unreadable, the atmoshpere (and air) was cold, and prices were very high...a big disappointment. It seems this restaurant relies heavily on old clientele who have been eating there for many years. [17 Oct 2007 13:47:48]
